Sit Back...Relax...
AC/DC - 1977
Sheffield University post Hare and Hounds, Dore.
It was an impromptu gig, went along to the university, maybe 500 crowd to see this Aussie band, and Bon Scott and Angus Young were electric, never quite into the formulae head bangers they became with the excellent ~ Brian Johnson.
Simple Minds
Don't You (Forget About Me) (Live Aid 1985)
Simple Minds
Live in Newcastle, 1982
Mary J. Blige, U2 - One
Loved them from Boy, were also going to be successful, Live at Red Rock was their making. Saw them at Gateshead, Murrayfield, and Roundhay
The Cult
She Sells Sanctuary
Free
Be My Friend.
Their best-ever version.
SAHB The Impossible Dream
I saw SAHB many times in Edinburgh and Glasgow, Faith Healer was an epic Song, for me they went off the boil a bit and pandered to the pop culture…
Rory Gallagher
A Million Miles Away Irish Tour 1974.
Rory Gallagher was immense, saw him 5 times in the mid/ late 70’s.
I loved Ulster Tour and add a documentary of that (part) he was a genius, Hendrix was a fan, considered him the best, praise indeed, as was Brian May, Edge, Slash amongst others. Extensively toured North and South, during the ‘troubles’~ ‘ fair play to him’ ~ he was a true guitar great… More importantly knew what he wanted to do and did it..visited his grave in Cork, had a pint in Cobh… Saw Trower , Lofgren, BB King, etc……Rory is a legend.
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Sweet Home Alabama (7/2/1977).
Oakland Coliseum Stadium.
Supporting Golden Earring, saw at the Odeon.
Free bird, was immense, mind blowing, and of course Sweet Home Alabama.
